WRC - A Quick Look at Who We Are

Who We Are:  The Congregation:

We are a congregation who gathers to worship the triune God in the heart of famous Woodstock, New York, in a historic building on the town's Village Green.  We are a diverse congregation who live and serve in places throughout the region-- not only in Woodstock, but in Saugerties, Kingston, Boiceville, Olivebridge, Port Ewen-- even as far as New York City and New Jersey!

We are a congregation of somewhere around 140 brothers and sisters all told.  We are an active church, with ministries and activities for people of all ages all the time.  We love to welcome visitors and tourists and those seeking a church family.  We invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 10am.

We are a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, a Protestant denomination with roots in the Netherlands (which is why it says "Dutch Reformed Church" above our front door).  To learn more about the Reformed Church in America, you can visit here.

We Welcome All:

During the school year, we have a small and strong Sunday School for children age 3 and up during worship (except on the first Sunday of the month, when our children join the adults in worship to celebrate the Lord's Supper together as a whole congregation.)  Children younger than three are welcome year-round to our nursery, where our staff nursery care-givers care for the littlest ones.

We are pleased to say that as of 2011 our facilities are fully handicapped-accessible!

Our Minister:  Rev. Josh Bode

Rev. Josh became our minister in December, 2007.

Rev. Josh introducing himself:
A quick blurb to tell you about me and my background-- Before I came to Woodstock, I was a chaplain for two and a half years in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.  Before that I was a student at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan.  I grew up in West Michigan and went to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI.  Around the time I finished college and entered seminary, my wife Erica and I met each other.  We have been married since 2003 and now have three energetic children who keep us full of joy and gratitude.  We love living in the village of Woodstock.  We love our congregation.  My prayer for the church is that we nurture the courage to be a people who seek kindness and truth in a world that trusts harshness and domination.

I hope you find on this website lots of helpful information about our church.  Do call the church or email us at woodstockchurch@gmail.com with your questions.

Our Leaders:  The Consistory

Our church is governed by an eight-person board called the Consistory.  Our Consistory is made up of four deacons and four elders who are elected by the congregation for two-year terms, plus Rev. Josh.
