WRC - A Quick Look at Who We Are
Who We Are: The Congregation
We are a congregation who gathers to worship the triune God in the heart of famous Woodstock, New York, in a historic building on the town's Village Green. We are a diverse congregation who live and serve in places throughout the region-- not only in Woodstock, but in Saugerties, Kingston, Boiceville, Olivebridge, Port Ewen-- even as far as New York City and New Jersey! We are a congregation of somewhere around 140 brothers and sisters all told. We are an active church, with ministries and activities for people of all ages all the time. We love to welcome visitors and tourists and those seeking a church family. We invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 10am. We are a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, a Protestant denomination with roots in the Netherlands (which is why it says "Dutch Reformed Church" above our front door). To learn more about the Reformed Church in America, you can visit here.
We Welcome All:
During the school year, we have a small and strong Sunday School for children age 3 and up during worship (except on the first Sunday of the month, when our children join the adults in worship to celebrate the Lord's Supper together as a whole congregation). Children younger than three are welcome year-round to our nursery, where our staff nursery care-givers care for the littlest ones. We are pleased to say that as of 2011 our facilities are fully handicapped-accessible!
Our Minister: Reverend Cari Pattison
Pastor Cari comes to us from The Reformed Church of Bronxville in Westchester County, New York, where she served as Associate Pastor for 12 years.
A native of Kansas City, Cari attended Kalamazoo College (MI) where she earned her B.A. in English and Art, and later earned a teaching certificate in secondary education. She taught 8th grade English in Grandview, Missouri, before heading east to Princeton Theological Seminary (Masters of Divinity). She is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and serves with us in the Formula of Agreement shared among several denominations.
Her two years serving a church in Nairobi, Kenya, confirmed Cari’s sense of call to ministry, and her pastoral work has included a Korean-American congregation in New Jersey, numerous summers as a camp counselor, two hospital chaplaincy internships, and spiritual care for residents in an assisted living facility.
Most recently Cari’s call led her from the church to the woods, as she set out to thru-hike the 2200-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 2019, and blogged about her experience for The Trek: https://thetrek.co/author/cari-pattison/.
Cari’s parents live in Kansas City, as does one of her two younger brothers and his family. The other brother and his family live in Columbus, Ohio, and Cari loves being an aunt to three young nieces and a nephew.
She is grateful to be a pastor at the Woodstock Reformed Church, a congregation with a remarkable history spanning over two centuries. Getting to serve alongside this congregation in the heart of town is an answer to prayer for her, and she welcomes you to this faithful, diverse, warm community.
Her greatest joy in ministry is connecting with people of all ages, creating a place of belonging for all, bringing the scriptures to life, and witnessing God’s love and hope in the pivotal moments of birth and death, marriage and divorce, suffering and healing. As Frederick Buechner once said, “The resurrection of Jesus means the worst thing is never the last thing.”

Cari’s regular days at church are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
