WRC - A Quick Look at Who We Are

Who We Are: The Congregation

We are a congregation who gathers to worship the triune God in the heart of famous Woodstock, New York, in a historic building on the town's Village Green. We are a diverse congregation who live and serve in places throughout the region-- not only in Woodstock, but in Saugerties, Kingston, Boiceville, Olivebridge, Port Ewen-- even as far as New York City and New Jersey! We are a congregation of somewhere around 140 brothers and sisters all told. We are an active church, with ministries and activities for people of all ages all the time. We love to welcome visitors and tourists and those seeking a church family. We invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 10am. We are a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, a Protestant denomination with roots in the Netherlands (which is why it says "Dutch Reformed Church" above our front door). We Welcome All:

During the school year, we have a small and strong Sunday School for children age 3 and up during worship (except on the first Sunday of the month, when our children join the adults in worship to celebrate the Lord's Supper together as a whole congregation.) Children younger than three are welcome year-round to our nursery, where our staff nursery care-givers care for the littlest ones.We are pleased to say that as of 2011 our facilities are fully handicapped-accessible!

Our Minister: Rev. Sara Appleyard-Pekich

Rev. Sara Appleyard-Pekich has her BA from Trinity Christian College and MDIV from Western Theological Seminary. She originally comes from Pekin, Illinois and currently lives in Hurley, NY where her husband Bill is the pastor of Hurley Reformed Church. Revs. Bill and Sara have two children, Liam and Barbara and two dogs. Rev. Sara enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book while drinking a good cup of coffee and meaningful conversations. She loves the Woodstock church and community and looks forward to doing ministry alongside those in the congregation. Her office door is always open!

Our church is governed by an eight-person board called the Consistory. Our Consistory is made up of four deacons and four elders who are elected by the congregation for two-year terms, plus Rev. Sara.
